''bright, bold, colourful and gender-free''

Hi I'm Lizzie, the maker (and everything else!) behind Lizziebug.

I started Lizziebug in 2015, having graduated from a degree in Costume Design a few years earlier and after leaving my teaching job (Costume Design and a Kids Sewing Club). I was quickly filling up my niblings' wardrobes with costumes and clothing and thought they couldn't be the only ones who wanted what I was making!

A pair of red dinosaur leggings are what started the Lizziebug you see today - a request from a dinosaur-mad niece! The clothing available at the time was very gendered and lacked the colour and fun that kids' clothing should have. I set out with an aim to make beautiful clothing in gender-free prints.

In 2018 I brought out my very first custom print - designed by me and printed here in the UK. Since then I've created many more exclusive designs, and you can find them all here!

I try to waste as little as possible - 2019 saw my packaging go fully recyclable and fabric scraps are either sent on to those who can use them, or repurposed/reused at home!

At the end of 2019 I became an approved Let Clothes Be Clothes seller. LCBC are a grassroots campaign founded in 2014, calling for an end to the harmful gender stereotypes used in the design and marketing of children's clothes. For more information click here.

As well as the items in my shop, I also undertake custom orders. I love a challenge (and fabric shopping) so feel free to pop me a message if you have any specific requests!
